Prologue Part 1

    Loud cheers ring through the stadium as people get excited. A large wave comes up from the center of the arena and drenches several rows as fans grow even more excited. At the center, two teams magically battle each other with the elements of air, fire and water. Air blowing, water splashing when suddenly a fire ball crashes into all three team mates and sends them down into the pool below. 

And down goes Ireland, that brings the score to 19 to 15 in USA'S favor an announcer announces.

The crowd applauds for USA. Up high in the stands one little girl is seen cheering. "Come on USA defeat them, teared them to sheds the girl yells. "Yeah you heard my friend tear them down a boy next to her yells. The two look at each other with the biggest smiles on their faces. 

"Lucy I am glad we're here together." "Me to Justin and the best part is we get to stay up late." Justin laughs "Yeah what ten years old get to stay up this late." Lucy nods in agreement. As they continue to watch the battle, Lucy looks over at her mom who is in deep conservation with Justin's parent, just then Lucy sees her mom get up and walk out of the arena. Lucy walks over to Justin's mom Irene and asks, "where is mom going?" Irene replies don't worry she just went to see if your dad has arrived. Lucy goes back over to sit with Justin. 

Irene turns towards her husband Nick. "See anything let" asks Irene. "Not let" Nick answers. 

"Do you really think the rumors are true" Nick asks?

"I really hope not." Irene replies, she looks towards Lucy with Justin. 

"For everybody's sake I hope not" Irene says again.

Lucy and Justin watches the match when Justin's parents catch Lucy's attention.

"Justin, are your parents okay, they seem worried" Lucy says.

"They're probably just scared that USA is about to win, they are big Ireland fans" Justin replies.

Lucy not entirely convinced still watches Justin's parents.

"Let's Go" Justin loudly exclaims. His attention still on the match.

"This is awesome, one that could be us up there, I mean once we master our bending." Justin excitedly exclaims. Lucy agrees.

A large gust of wind knocks off a player from the platform. 

"Whoa that's got to hurt." Announcer says.

Suddenly another fireball comes out of nowhere and hits another player off the platform.

"They are going to feel that in the morning another one down for Ireland" announcer says again.

Team USA from a three on one triangle, targets the last remaining Ireland player.

"This could be it" announcers exclaims.

Ireland player tries one more defensive move, but it is no use and the a huge wave comes up from the pool below and rams into the last Ireland player right off the platform.

"Down goes Ireland" the announcer loudly and proudly announces as the crowd cheers for team USA. "And there you have it ladies and gentlemen, your new champions of the National Bending Tournament, with a final score of 20 to 15." 

Team USA celebrates on top of the platform as the crowd cheers, when suddenly the platform catches on fire and crashes down into the pool killing the all three members of team USA and chaos erupts and the crowd panics and starts to run away.

Hamilton The Musical

 Hello Everyone,

Spoiler Alert!!!!!

     Long time no see, hope you all are alright and safe during this pandemic and if were like me and was working during the shut down then I really hope you are safe. Strange time we are living in and even though I've been working, I still have been watching stuff I mean there is nothing else to do right. And I know I haven't been writing well now I am, so deal with it. Just kidding! Just trying to lighten the mood. Now let's get started with the review of 'Hamilton The Musical.'

     Now I never saw Hamilton live on stage and I will be honest I wasn't really keen on seeing it. Because I am not a fan of rap nothing against Lin Manuel Miranda, it's just not my thing. But it came on Disney Plus and I figured why not and watched it. I will say this I got to hand it to Miranda for doing a rapping musical because when you think of theatre and specifically musical theatre rap is not the first thing that comes to mind. So to take the two things and put then together was out there and he actually made it work and also in a pretty catching way.

     Anyone who loves the musical please don't hate me for saying that I don't thing that it lives up to all the hype. It's well done, well acted it's just I hear and see people and they are so enthralled in the musical that for me it just din't lived up to that hype. Sorry!

     I did enjoy the few non-rapping songs, I thought Helpless and Satisfied are good companion songs to each other. I like the fact these two songs are told through the point of view of the two sisters and are performed beautifully. Eliza's solo was wonderful and emotional and fit well into the story. Evan some of the rapping parts was catching that it even had me tapping my foot.

     And as far as the story goes it seemed fairly historically accurate. It was well researched and showed you everything Hamilton accomplished and all the people he also pissed off but hey he was a politician and that's politics for you. What I really enjoyed about the story was that it was more or less about the interactions between Hamilton and Aaron Burr and exactly what happen between them and what and how they got to that fatal duel. And it goes to show you that if these two were able to put their differences aside then they could have achieved a lot together as a team. They were both intelligent and could have made the country all the better for it but instead suffer all the more for it. 

     I also did enjoy the ending because it switched gears and explains a little bit about Eliza's story and goes off and tell is a little about what she accomplished in the fifty years after Hamilton dies and before she did. Then the very end with her gasp, I like that they are so many interpretations to it and its left up to the audience to decide what it could mean. I like those type of endings. 

     Even though the musical does not live up the hype for me it is well done that I can see why so many would find enjoyable but hey I'll let you be the judge. For me when I watch it I was thinking okay it is a musical about Alexander Hamilton no big deal. But with that said I did find things that I really like about it just not enough for me jump on the crazy band wagon.

Toy Story 4

Hello Everyone,

Spoiler Alert!!!!!

     So I grew up with this franchise, I loved it as a kid and I still love it even as an adult. And even though this movie is considered for kids and even though I don't have any I didn't care I still wanted to see it by myself and I found it really enjoyable as much as I found the previous movies. Also the funny thing is even though it is considered a kids movie and even thought people were in there with their kids, I think the adults were laughing more than the kids that were in the theatre. Now on to the review of "Toy Story 4."

     The ending of Toy Story 3 was so perfect that you were probably thinking how can they possibly top it when it was announced that they were making an forth. I mean the ending of Tory Story 3 was emotional to say the least. I am mean Andy giving up his toys to Bonnie, him explaining how each of them meant a lot to him, explaining how Woody never gives up on you and is always there for you, to the passing down of Woody and Andy playing with his tory one last time was a tear jerker. Than the last shot of all the toys together that would have been the perfect ending. But than Toy Story 4 came and it was just as emotional as the third but we'll get to that ending later.

     One thing that I like about all of the Toy Story films is that Woody is the main protagonist throughout all four. It only makes sense Woody is the one that never gives up on Andy, he's always there for him so of course the series will focus on him. And of course it would be the same for the forth film. The forth one is more or less about Woody not having a purpose with Bonnie and him finding himself.

     At the start of the film Woody is feeling neglected by Bonnie which makes him feel useless.
So when Bonnie makes a new toy Woody take it upon himself to watched out fir said toy. That is so Woody! And as you probably can guess some stuff happens and through a series of misadventures Woody is reunited with his girlfriend Bo Peep. Which is a real sweet scene. Bo Peep is a bad ass in this film she is the next Wonder Woman. It's awesome! Since she wasn't in Toy Story 3 we had to wait a while for Woody to see her again. Throughout the whole film Woody is trying to feel useful and trying to reestablished his purposes a toying he's not having much luck. But when meets up with Bo Peep that all changes. And by the end of the film he is able to find that purpose and also be with the girl he loves. That's why in my personal opinion it's a fitting end for Woody. He was always the one that needed to have a purpose, he was never happy with just being a toy, he needed more. And the fact that he also chooses romance is a bonus.

     The only sad part is that Woody and Buzz had to say goodbye to each other. That has been the centric relationship all along they're best friends and knowing that they won't be together anymore is a bummer. However seeing Buzz give Woody his blessing to leave and is truly happy for him does make the scene a little easier to watch. Toy Story 3 was a good way to end Woody's story with Andy and Toy Story 4 was a good way to just end Wood's story. And I really enjoyed the film and am glad that we got a bonus movie and a chance to see these characters for a final time.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 1

Hello Everyone, 

Spoiler Alert !!!!!

     I am back, its been a while since I've posted a review I know, been busy but I am here now so with that let's get on with the review. So last time I wrote about a sequel to a hit movie, this time I am writing about the original the one that started these fun movies with awesome music. And if you enjoyed the sequel then your going to love the original just as much if not more so. I though it was fitting to write about the first film after talking about the second. With that said let's get started with the review of Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 1!

     Now if you enjoyed Volume 2, then you will love the original Guardians of the Galaxy just as much if not more because as we know the originals do tend to be better than the sequels, it just depends on the person. I think the first thing we need ti discuss is the very beginning. I mean  when one of the first scenes is the main character dancing around on an abandon planet using a lizard creature as a microphone, you know this is going to be one fun ride for two hours. Everything about the first scene is just perfect. The title sequence, the editing, the music, everything about it is great and it's a fun scene to watch. Plus Christ Pratt is an awesome dancer, although I don't thing there's anything that man can't do. He is truly amazing.

     Since we are talking about dancing, let's now talk about the music. I mean I think at least for most of us can agree that out of all the Marvel films that Guardians has the best soundtrack. Each song fits in what is exactly going on in the scene in which they are being played and the movie in general. For instance, the title sequence show us what kind of character Peter Quell is and what song is better than 'come and get your love.' Peter is this wacky, silly kind of guy that is looking out for himself and the song choice shows that off perfectly. Every song choice is just perfect, plus they are really catching song.

     Now we already are well aware that Christ Pratt is a brilliant choice to play Peter Quell. But the rest of the cast are just as good and they all play their characters wonderfully. The chemistry between Pratt, Zoe Saldana and Dave Bautista is great. They really play off each other well. Karen Gillian's Nebula really has that love-hate relationship with Saldana's Gamora. and it's awesome ti hope that these two can figured out their issues with each other and really become sisters. Even the voice actors are terrific, Bradley Cooper is freakin hilarious as Rocket, and Vin Diesel can make Groot the most bad ass character with only one line. The entire cast just comes together in a way that is both engaging and overall just fun to watch. They really made characters that probably not very many people knew popular and it's thanks to the actors and the director of the film James Gunn. Thank heavens Marvel rehired him to direct Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3. Am I right?

     As much as I love volume two and I think volume three will be just as entertaining I do think that volume one was a good introduction ti these characters and the story line and I can't wait to see where they go with it in volume three, that is after we find out how they bring them back after the events of infinity war. Because as I am sure all of us know by now Rocket was the only guardian that survived and I highly doubt that volume three will be a Rocket solo movie after all its Guardians of the Galaxy, not Guardian.

Guardians of the Galaxy:Vol 2

Spoiler Alert!!!!!

     Well now is the time i feel like writing a review and it will come as no surprise to any of you that it is a review of a Marvel movie. Now I've really like what they have done with the Marvel Cinematic Universe especially since Disney bought Marvel. Because Disney actually gets filmmakers that know the material to film the movies. And Guardians of the Galaxy:Vol 2 is no different. Now onto the review!

     If you thought the first one was fun and entertaining than your going to think the second one is better. I enjoyed the fact that the first Guardians was a good introduction to the characters and the general premise and the second Guardians was good character development particularly for Starlord/Peter Quill. I also like that the filmmakers did not make us wait forever to discover the identity of Perter's father, they got to it in the second movie instead of waiting like three or four movies like most continuation films usually do. The first Guardians gave is a hint into who Peter's father is, the second actually introduce him and as Yondu said in the first film "he was a dick" I love how that came back into play. The movie shows off just how messed up Peter's life was growing up. And it was to have your mom dies in front of you, be taken away from your home planet, never know your father, and being raised by a different species that threatened to eat you, going through all that your not going to have too good of a life. But while the film does a good job showing all that off, it also does a good job showing off the relationship between Peter and Yondu and show that they have the true father/son relationship. Hence the ending where Ego just wanted to use and exploit Peter, Yondu was the one that caught onto what Ego was doing and protected Peter and still wanted to protect him and in the end Yondu sacrificed himself to save Peter just like a true father would do. And like Drax said earlier in the film Youdu was his father, he was right.

     Along with the father/son angle with Peter/Yondu/Ego the movie shows off the sister relationship between Gamora and Nebula and how they came to despise each other. It also gave a bit of a back story of what it was like for them growing up with Thanos as a adopted father. The fact that they were forced to fight each other and made to hate one another when the truth is they were both afraid young girls and just wanted to be sister was great development for them as characters and for their relationship. I like by the end they had reconciled and will possibly team up and defeat Thanos in Avengers:Infinity War. That will be great to see so here's hoping. The film also has great character development for Rocket as he found himself caring about the Guardians and come to the realization that they are his friends. But he didn't want to admit any of it at least not until Yondu knocked some sense into him and sacred him by telling him (Rocket) that he's just like him (Yondu). Yondu made Rocket admit that he cares about the other Guardians. The only thing is I wish we would have gotten more development for Drax and Groot or in this case Baby Groot but maybe in vol 3.

     Guardians of the Galaxy:Vol 2 was another excellent film done by Marvel Studios and Disney. The music was just as awesome as the first. The songs will get stuck in your head and you will want the sound track. Vol 2 is just as fun, amusing and entertaining as Vol 1. Plus who doesn't love the Mary Poppins line. I can't wait to see what they do next for vol 3, it's going to be epic.

Kong: Skull Island

Hello Everyone,

Spoiler Alert!!!!!

     So this movie I actually took the day off work to see it. And it was worth it at least it was much better then being at work. It was a good day off because before we went to see the film, we had champagne brunch and to make it better we paid for to see it in the fancy theater the one with the recliners so nice and comfortable. The film was a fun action packed thrill ride that will have you at the edge of your seat the entire time. With that said let's get started with the review of Kong: Skull Island.

     Now I will be honest you didn't really have to try very hard to talk me into seeing this movie because as soon as I saw the trailer and notice Tom Hiddelston was staring in it, I was instantly hooked. I am just saying! But I also liked the fact that this was technically a sequel to King Kong. And who doesn't like King Kong. And it gave the audience some insight to the Kong character and big gorilla or not Kong is still a character. And even through Kong is a villain you realize that at the same time he is not the bad after all he was destroying the other monsters to protect people that trespass onto his turf. It makes you think that the real villains are the people that want to exploit Kong. So your rooting for Kong throughout the film. While some of the humans are villains in this case these are the John Goodman and Samuel L. Jackson characters at the same time you do want them to get off the island alive. Another thing is just like most movies is the secondary characters never listen to the guy that can actually keep them alive in this case the Tom Hiddelston character. Thus causing them to be eaten alive or squash to death.

     As I mention I am a Tom Hiddelston fan so I would have seen this movie anyway. But it was good to see him play the hero for a change oppose to the villain. And as good as it was to see him play the hero it was equally as good to watch Samuel L. Jackson play a villain mostly because he is so awesome as the villain. It's also a little ironic because Tom Hiddelston plays a villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe while Samuel L. Jackson plays a hero to in Kong it is a bit of a role reversal and they are fabulous at both. It goes to show you that both actors are crazy talented at whatever parts they play. All the actors were great in the film they were believable in whatever emotion they are supposed to be feeling. And another thing that was great was that both of the woman characters were just as tough as any one of the male characters. And in some both woman kicked more ass than all of the male characters combined. 

     The visual effects were terrific I really liked the overall look of the film. I like that you can even see the emotion on Kong's face and can tell what he is supposed to be feeling and the intense rage that is going through Kong's mind. The part where the girl in Kong's hand and goes down the monster's throat was a good part because it showed that like in King Kong, Kong still has a soft spot for good looking woman. Though I wouldn't want to be the one that explains to her what happen to her when she was unconscious. That's not a conservation I would want to have. And the Easter egg after the credits that hints about a possible Kong versus Godzilla film was amazing and I personally cannot wait to see that one. Because we all know that it will be epic. With the Summer coming and Fall T.V. shows ending you will need something to watch and I will recommend for you to watch Kong: Skull Island. It's worth it!

Logan

Hello Everyone,

Spoiler Alert!!!!!

     In case you guys haven't notice I've been seeing a lot of movies lately. But I have been busy to write them down. Recently I have found the time to talk a little about them. I hope you all are enjoying these reviews because I am having fun writing them. Now for this review let's bring out your inner wolverine and do some damage to some very bad people. Let's get started with the review of "Logan" which is the final film with Hugh Jackman as the character.

     I didn't know what to expect from this movie I wasn't sure where they were going to go with the story but I really like what they did with the X-Men franchise and the Logan character. What I enjoyed was that in a way it was the same old Logan that we all loved. You know the take no rap from anyone but at the same time it was also a different Logan. A Logan that has seen and lost so much and has lost all of his friends, the people he considered family. The movie allowed Hugh Jackman to play a different side to Logan a side that we haven't seen before. And he played it to perfection as usual. Along with Jackman "Logan" also gave Patrick Stewart a chance to show a different side to Professor X. A side of a man that has seen his entire life's work destroyed. A man that is so broken that you wouldn't think he could possibly be fixed. But like Logan it was also still the same Professor X. The man that will always be there for his students no matter how much they tell him to go away or stop it. Both Jackman and Stewart are outstanding as their characters as always. And the young actress playing X23 also known as Laura was amazing for one so young and new to the industry. I thought she captured the rage and intensity as Logan displays which is perfect as X23 is supposed to be a clone of Logan. I also thought that she worked well with Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart and has terrific chemistry with them. I just thought the whole cast was great and there was no weak leak among them. 

     The only thing I was a little disappointed in was after the credits I thought they were going to show a claw raise from the grave or have someone stumble upon the empty grave. Just wanted that it would have been awesome. But I think the reason they didn't do that was so the sudience knows and is aware that this is the last film for Jackman playing the character.l And that way they won't expect to see him in the next film. Still it was disappointing because it meant that it was an end to an era. But I like the introduction of X23 and the other kid mutants because just as something ends, something new begins. And if you pay close attention all the powers if the nre mutants were those of the originals. And it proves that Logan wasn't the only mutant that they cloned. While I am saddened to watch Jackman and Stewart stepping down from their roles that they've made so iconic I am also excited to see what is next for the new characters and the franchise in general. 

     "Logan" was a great ending for Jackman and Stewart to go out on. And all the while being an amazing ending it was also a great beginning to a brand new series of film. Let's hope the filmmakers get a chance to dive deeper into brand new characters. And critics were right Jackman and Stewart saved their best for last.

Split

Hello Everyone,

Spoiler Alert!!!!!

     So in my last review I took you into a galaxy far away with Rogue One. But in this review I am going to take you into a world that is spooky and creepy, you might even say it's horrible. Sorry bad pun. But it got the point across as I am going to take you into the world of horror. This was one of those films that made me want to see since I first saw the trailer. I finally did see it in the theaters, it didn't disappoint. Now on to the review of Split!

     When I saw the trailer I didn't know that is was supposed to be connected to the movie "Unbreakable" staring Bruce Willis. I saw online that Bruce Willis had a cameo as his character from "Unbreakable." So when I actually saw the film I knew it was set in the same universe as "Unbreakable." But even though it has that connection, Split on it's own is a well done stand alone movie. It has different characters, different setting and a different premise that just makes it enjoyable to watch. I don't think Split really needed to be connected to "Unbreakable" and it didn't need the cameo, I still have to say that it did get me excited for a third film with Bruce Willis and James McAvoy against each other. That is if a third shall be made of course. But if a thirst doesn't get made Split is a good stand alone film with an awesome cameo.

     I think what really got me interested into seeing Split is James McAvoy as the main character/villain because it was a different role for him to play. And he really pulls it off and I think he should do more like Split more often, h really does them justice. Also even though he plays the antagonist and don't want him to win, you realize he also plays a character that deals with a disorder that real like people deal with in real life. James McAvoy play a guy that has multiple personalities which is actually the part of the movie that got criticize but for me it;s the part of the movie that I found the most interesting. Because since it's a real disorder the writing and the actor could be shown it in a disrespecting way (not meaning to although) but the filmmakers brought some light on this real issue without disrespecting the issue or the people that deal with it. The only non-realistic thing about it was the part that one of the personalities has super powers. Although we don't know everything about multiple personalities disorder so I guess it's possible but I seriously doubt it. While dealing with multiple personalities, Split also deals with rape which is another real issue that many people deal with. And how a person will feel after they've been rape. But I do love how the girl's tragic backstory was the thing that saved her life. And as messed up as that was it did get to the point of the film. And the way I view it is that sometimes damage people may be a little less messed up as non-damage people But I leave it up to you on what you think the point was. With dealing with real issues like multiple personalities and rape Split really is a dark film which is perfect for horror. 

     Split is a thrilling, spooky and just a little scary film that even for a person who doesn't like horror will enjoy. And even if you haven't seen "Unbreakable" it's not necessary to see Split. You will understand it just fine like I said it didn't need that connection it is just a fun movie. But you might want to watch "Unbreakable" after you see "Split."

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

     For this review I am going to take you to a galaxy far far away. Okay you can stay in your bedroom I was just kidding anyway. But I had to say that, I know corny but sometimes corny is fun. And from what I just said and by the title of this post than you all know what movie this review will be about. So since you all already know let's just get started with the review of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. 

     Unlike the episodes which are all connected by the same characters and continuing plot lines Rogue One is a side story with brand new characters and a separated story that takes place between episode three "Revenge of the Sith" and episode four "A New Hope." So it's not completely separate from the episodes, it does connect to them just a little bit. But for the most part it's a side story of a widely huge franchise. For me it was a wise decision to have the story take place before the original trilogy because it was it put the beginning into perspective. For example Rogue One really makes you realize just how much of a bad ass Princess Leia is. I mean when you see Vader slice everyone with one wave of his saber and you heat Leia basically tell him to go f*** himself. You can't help but to think that's one tough chick. The first time I watched the original trilogy I love Princess Leia because she was the only main female character that has any story. And the fact that she was a bad ass. Princess Leia was a character that could hold her own to any male character and Rogue One shows off the essence of Princess Leia. 

     Another great thing about Rogue One was the CGI effects that added to Grand Master Tarkin and Princess Leia. Especially since both actors are dead and we will never see them again as Tarkin and Leia, so to see them one last time was fantastic even if was someone else physically portraying them. And who knows if technology keeps getting better than filmmakers could make the effects look better than they were in this film. By seeing the CGI on Tarkin and Leia makes you as the viewer realize that the filmmakers didn't have the technology when they shot the original trilogy. The effects in "A New Hope" were good but nothing like how they are in "Rogue One."

     One other thing I really enjoyed about the film is and I now have to warn you spoiler alert; is the fact that all of the main characters die at the end. It was an ending tat made the most sense. Think back to "A New Hope" the part where they're talking at the base going over the death star plans determining it's weakness. There was the line that said "many people died delivering these plans to us." Make sense! Along with that Star Wars has always been about raising the stakes. And has always been a dangerous world where people die. But with that Star wars has also been about hope which is the main theme in Rogue One. Hope is the theme that makes the whole franchise come full circle.

     If you like anything Star Wars then you will enjoy watching Rogue One. You don't have to watch any of the episodes to understand the events of the film. Though it helps, it is not necessary. If you need a film to watch on your day off then I would recommend Rogue One: A Star Wars Story it's worth the watch.

Fantastic Beasts And Where to Find Them

     Time for another review and this movie is part of a franchise that has a special place in my heart. And that franchise is the wizarding of Harry Potter. The reason why Harry Potter has a place in my heart is because it got me into reading books. So anything that has to do with that world is going to get me into the theater and get me hooked and interested in the story. Let's begin with the review of the prequel series Fantastic Beasts And Where to Find Them.

     Let me start out saying again that this is a prequel series and place before Harry, Ron and Hermonie so you won't be seeing them but you will be seeing characters that weren't explored instead was just mentioned in the original series. Despite the fact that Fantastic is a spin off series of a huge popular series, it is also a good stand alone film. One of the things I really liked about this movie is that it gives some of the secondary Harry Potter characters s lot of backstory. The characters that were barely seen or maybe only mention, Fantastic Beasts brings them into the light and allows the audience learn more about them. I also liked the fact that it was a prequel and went into more depth about the stories that were introduced in Harry Potter and by doing that it really sets up Harry Potter. So it is a great lead up to a highly popular franchise. And it really raises the stakes for all the characters in both Fantastic Beasts and Harry Potter. 

     Another thing that is nice about the movie is that it takes place in America. If gave us more information about the wizarding world/community in America and how it differs from the wizarding world in the United Kingdom. And J.K. Rowling has stated that there was a wizard school in America so they wouldn't go to Hogwarts which is in London. We actually had gotten a little bit of explanation of other wizarding schools in Goblet of Fire with Dunstrung and Beaubatons which are located in France and Russia. Fantastic Beasts took it a step further and explain about the world across the Atlantic Ocean. By having the film take place in America really expanded the world and maybe got other kid/people interested in the story that maybe at first wasn't. So it open the other the door to a whole new audience.

     The cast was fantastic no pun intended and for those of you who haven't seen the movie and may not know there is a awesome cameo that you wouldn't want to miss. So I am not going to give away who it is, I got to leave you with a little mystery to get you want to watch the film. Which is if you think about it is what the movie is about to a degree; mystery. Trying to solve who is responsible for all the chaos and destruction. Fantastic Beasts has all the wonder that Harry Potter has and is a great prequel to a great story. 

     Though this review may be a little bias meaning that I love Harry Potter as it got me to enjoy reading. But who cares it's still a great flick.

Doctor Strange

     Yeah I know its been a while since my last review, the Christmas season was a killer on me. But now is the perfect time for a new review. And by the title, I am sure none of you are surprised that it is a Marvel movie. What can I say I sure love superhero and comic book films. Plus Benedict Cumberbatch is awesome! Alright time to start the review of Doctor Strange.

     Disney has done a awesome job on the movies since they bought Marvel. The marvel cinematic universe is entertaining and just altogether fun to watch. And Doctor Strange is no different. Once you see the movie you will see the parallels between Doctor Strange and Thor. Not just with the magic aspect but by the way the characters are similar. At the start of the film both are arrogant, selfish, clueless when it comes to their love interest. Both think they know it all and both come to realize that they really don't know anything at all. Both Strange and Thor go through an event that forces them them to go through an transformation. Thor being exiled to Earth and Strange, the ending of his career as a doctor. And both come out of the transformation as a better man. Both Strange and Thor are fun characters and you want them to succeed. There are many more similarities between Strange and Thor from both be charming to both being willing to sacrifice themselves to protect human kind and the universe. And with that we want more of these two fighting side by side than just the one thirty second ending credit scene that we got. 

     In my opinion the most impressive feature of this film is the visual effects. The way they were able to show the characters doing magic and going to opposite ends of the world in 0-2 seconds and them battling on buildings twisting and turning was just impressive. Doctor Strange is by for the movie in the entire MCU (marvel cinematic universe) that has the most special effects. And you think when a movie that has to rely so much on special effects that the story will fall flat. But that is not the case with Doctor Strange, the writing was just as compelling as the effects. And much like Captain America: Civil War both the hero and the villain were both right in their own way and that neither of them were wrong. When a movie can make you see the points of view of both the hero and villain, bow that's good writing. 

     All the actors were fantastic. Benedict Cumberbatch was brilliant as Doctor Strange and I can't wait to see where he goes with the character from here on out. I thought all the other actors were equal to Cumberbatch. The only one I would of like to see more of is Rachael McAdams character. But I like the fact she was able to throw all of Strange's crap back at him. Here's to hoping we get to see more of her in future movies and appearances. One final note just like the Hulk in the Avengers, the caps of levitation was the real hero of the entire film. I loved the cape, it's awesome.

Inferno

     I just talked about Star Trek: Beyond in my last review and I mention that it was a thrilling ride and anyone will enjoy it but this film is totally different. But still just as exciting as Star Trek was and don't worry if you don't like science fiction because this next film is not sci-fi. Though I supposed you can argue it has a bit of science in it. But that is not the same as being a sci-fi movie. Now let's get started with the review of Inferno. 

     So I've been doing these reviews for a while and I just went back through my notes and discovered that I have never wrote about an Tom Hanks film. To me this seems strange because Tom Hanks is my favorite actor and the fact that I haven't written about any of his movies until now is baffling. Well it was bound to happen sooner or later and Inferno is as good as any to begin with. Inferno is the forth book, third film in the Robert Langdon series. Now I haven't read the book but I quite enjoyed the movie. I found this movie a good mystery just like The DaVinci Code and Angels and Demons, the other two Robert Langdon films. But like the first two, Inferno deals a lot with religion and faith. Speaking of the latter all three films are a good test of faith, trying to figure out just what you believe. If you like films about faith and religion or you would like to learn more about the two and discover more about the Bible, then this is the movie for you. And you will find Inferno interesting and engaging and you might discovered what exactly it is you believe in. 

     Although that last part is just a big might but the very least you just might be entertained watching the film. 

     This film hasn't gotten very many good review from critics and what most seem to be saying is while DaVinci Code was about the clues, this one is about the action and comes across like The Bourne film series. And while I see their point it really doesn't turn into The Bourne movies until the end of the second act in to the third. Up until then it was very much about the clues. Especially because it starts out with our main character waking up and not remember where he is or how he even got to be where hes at, and what it going on and what hes been up to. So he has to put the the pieces together and figure out that has happen. Then you get to the end of the second act where it is revealed that the people that contacted him for help had been the ones who set up the whole him not remembering thing and that did turn the movie into The Bourne films. But even when it became less about the clues it was still enjoyable especially because by the time it turned into The Bourne Identity the characters had pretty much figure everything out. It was just about the race to stop the bad guys. Now I have spoiled some of the film for those of you who haven't seen the film but I won't reveal the big twist I'll just that it's a doozy.

     Now Inferno may not be as mysterious as The DaVinci Code or Angels and Demons. It is still a good episode in the Robert Langdon series and the movie makes me want to read the book. Tom Hanks is excellent as usual and I can't wait to see if there will be a next one. For the time being I'll just have to enjoy the ones we do have.

Star Trek: Beyond

     Time for another movie review and this time around it is a third installment of a franchise that has been around since the mid sixties. Has developed a cult following and has become one of the most well known sci-fi franchises to this very day. With that said let's move on to this review the latest Star Trek film Star Trek: Beyond.

     Now if you don't like sci-fi or you prefer Star Wars than you may want to stop reading this review and check out my review of Star Wars: The Force Awakens or just stop reading for those of you whom just doesn't enjoy sci-fi. So if you guys want to go then go ahead, no hard feelings I won't stop you. For those of you that are still reading then I recommend you see this movie especially if you have seen Star Trek and Star Trek: Into Darkness. You will find the next story just as compelling and entertaining as the previous two. And if you don't then your taking Star Trek too seriously. Sorry I just wanted to say that to all the hard core trekies. You can't take this franchise seriously! Anyway Star Trek: Beyond is great because it's different from the other two. It has different problems and different solutions in solving those problems. And you see different friendships forming that you didn't get to see in the last two films. While at the same time you still see the friendships that formed in Into Darkness. For example while the Kirk-Spock relationship took center stage in the first two, in this one you get to see Spock-Bones interaction and Kirk-Chekov friendship forming. I really enjoyed seeing Spock and Bones getting more screen time together. Because in the original series those two characters were an essential part of the show and their interactions were always funny. Because they were so different and were on opposite sides. Where Bones was on the emotional, human side of things Spock was in the Vulcan, logical side so seeing Bones and Spock interact in the same manner in Beyond was a nice throwback to the original. 

     Even though J.J. Abrams wasn't directing as he was a bit busy working on Star Wars: The Force Awakens, I figured Beyond was still going to be amusing because Simon Pegg was writing it. And Simon Pegg is a super nerd especially when it comes to Star Trek, so I knew he would do a good job with the story. One thing I enjoyed about the story is that in the mix of all the action and character interactions, there is also some comedy and humor in it. I think the best movies are the ones that has a good blend of action where the characters are kick ass and humor where the characters get to show that they are having a good time with each other. Simon Pegg is always great of blending those two elements in his scripts and Star Trek: Beyond is no different.

     Star Trek: Beyond is a great, thrilling and exciting ride and you will find both action packed and entertaining. It's just a shame this film was Anton Yelchin's last role before his tragic passing.

Legend of Tarzan

     Well it had been a while since my last review but I have found some free time on my hands, so now is the perfect time for one. This film is not really a major hyped up movie but maybe it should be. I'll leave it up to you to decide everyone's opinion is different. Okay enough with the introduction let's get on with the review of Legend of Tarzan.

     My dad was the one who saw this film first and told me it was good. And when he enjoys a movie, you know its entertaining, he can be rather critical at time as far as movies are concern. I mean he hated the Disney Tarzan almost as much as he hated Disney Lion King. So when he said it was good I knew it was. So when I finally did see it, I also found it an action packed, entertaining, dark movie and I really enjoyed it. Now I haven't read any of the novels but my dad has. So I asked him if Legend of Tarzan were like the books and he told me the feel of the entire film were that of the novels. And now I want to read the books. 

     You might be wondering why I am talking about the feel or look of the film and that is because that is what I liked the most. That it was dark and gritty. It did't hold anything back from showing Tarzan's hands being reshaped like gorilla's from him running on them throughout childhood, to him getting seriously mauled by a gorilla. Heck there was a scene that showed him killing a kid and him admitting he had no mercy or honor. And it really hit its point of darkness when at the climax it showed the villain played by the awesome Christoph Waltz getting eaten by crocodiles. That is some dark stuff right there. The fact that they don't hold anything back is something that doesn't usually happen, most movies have been tamed down to a certain point. 

     But as much as it was dark it did also have some heart to it. With Tarzan loving and wanting to protect Jane and will do anything and everything to get her back once the bad guy took her. But also don't get me wrong Jane is not in any way a damsel in distress she was fully capable of protecting herself. Which is another reason why the film is enjoyable, the female lead is just as strong as the male lead. And because both of the leads are strong, independent characters it make them as a couple much more believable, they love and protect but can also challenge each other and are not afraid to tell each other what they are really feeling. And the chemistry between the actors Alexander Skarsgard (for all you True Blood fans) and Margot Robbie (Suicide Squad played Harley Quinn) was undeniable. They were great together. Also the story was believable as well because even though Tarzan was raised by gorillas doesn't mean there were no other people that lived there. It is Africa there are villages and tribes he would come across. And as far as the villain well there are people that are so greedy they would exploit whatever and whomever for the betterment of their own lives. Legend of Tarzan is a thrill ride that anyone will enjoy but I would not recommend it for kids wait until their older.

Captain America: Civil War

      Time for another review and unlike the last time, its on a much better film. This film was everything Batman vs. Superman should have been. It was thrilling, funny and the writing was much more engaging and kept you entertained throughout the entire movie. The reason I mention the writing was because everything in the story that was said came back up near the end of the film in contrast to Batman vs. Superman where nothing came back into play and where nothing made sense. Captain America: Civil War was much better written, let's get started with the review.

     So we will just start with the writing and the overall story of the film. What I really enjoyed about the story was that even though you had a superhero versus superhero in this case Captain America versus Iron Man and whom had two different viewpoints, neither viewpoint was wrong. Both Captain America and Iron Man are right in their own way. Iron Man is right when he states that The Avengers are out of control and needs to be handle. This makes sense because if you think about what they can do, its understandable that people would be afraid of them. And its true that they need someone to tell them when enough is enough. On the other hand Captain America is right when he says that the safest hands for that power are still their own. Because I don't know about you but I don't trust the government/military with the power they do have so there's no way I would trust them with more. Plus Captain America is a soldier from World War 2 so he has first hand knowledge and experience of what power can do to man especially when it is in the wrong hands. So yeah in his own way Captain America is also right. Another reason why the writing is so good is because even the bad guy in his twisted way was right especially in the twist ending when he kills the other winter soldiers. I mean if you saw what Bucky could do would you want more of him running around and ones that are even more brutal than Bucky. I didn't think so! And also the bad guy, his plan wasn't to kill the Avengers instead his plan was to get them to kill each other and it nearly works. Which is what they are trying not to do. Up until the end neither Tony Stark or Steve Rogers doesn't want to kill the other one. And even in the end Tony doesn't want to kill Steve, he wants to kill Bucky and Steve is just trying to be the middle man and stop them from killing each other. And in the end they both did see the other's view. It's just a shame we'll have to wait til the Avengers to see how they get past this. The writing is what made this film worked because it kept the audience interested throughout the entire movie. 

     Another part of the film that was enjoyable was that it had a good mix of action and humor. The whole airplane fight scene between the two teams was both kick ass and funny and it supported the two viewpoints and treated them both important equally. I love how they incorporated Spiderman and that Iron Man did not want him to get hurt. Ant Man was hilariously awesome and Black Panther was just awesome. I also liked that even though you had all these heroes, it still focused on Captain America since it still was a Captain America film. That's were Batman vs. Superman failed and Captain America succeeded thus making it a much better movie.

Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice

     Well it's that time again for another review. Only this time it is on a movie that was disappointing and that's putting it nicely. Which is a shame because it was much anticipated. And while we all really wanted to like this film and find it enjoyable, that just wasn't the case. And it left most people with a sour taste in their mouths as they walked out of the theater. With all that being said let's get started with the review of the much disappointing Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice.

     There are many problems with this film but the biggest ones are for me were the writing and directing. Let's start with the writing. First of all it was like they didn't even bother with doing an second draft or a third, or a fourth etc. Like they thought their first draft was the best and they were not going to do any better. And that's just lazy on the writer's part. Second is there is too much build up that it makes the movie boring. In the first act they were trying to introduce Superman whom we did not need an introduction for because we already got one in Man of Steel, so why do it again. They did the same for Lois and Perry White when it wasn't needed. And then they introduce Batman and Lex Luthor and again it wasn't needed, we already know those character. Then to top it off they were introducing Wonder Woman, the Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg and their introductions just get brushed off. They should have saved them for the Justice League, there was just too many characters in this film.

     After all those introductions that slow down the film we finally get our first scene with Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent and it was such a stupid scene because basically they were mad at each other when they didn't have one reason to be mad. So, they meet their mad, Lex does all kinds of crazy shit don't get me started and that's it, that's the whole scene. Here you have two of the best comic book characters meeting for the first time and they don't go anywhere with it, what's the point and the whole movie it like that, too much build up not enough payoff. It;s the same thing when Superman and Batman are fighting and while it is an entertaining scene the payoff is no good because there was all this build up to it and when it actually came it was not an evenly match fight Batman kicked Superman's ass so again what was the point. Oh yeah there was no point! Another problem with the writing there are a lot pf plot holes. For examples Lex stated he ha s been playing Batman for two years but Batman didn't get his letters until two hours before the Batman/Superman fight. So that made no sense at all. Then there was that horrible scene where Lex creates doomsday which was not explained. And that it another plot hole if Lex's plan was to have a Batman kill Superman then w does he even need doomsday. Pointless!

     While Ben Afleck did surprise me and actually was fairly decent at the role of Batman. I would have like to see him acted like Bruce Wayne, the womanizing, playboy instead of just being mad the entire film. But I can't fault him for that, that's on the director. I am talking to you Zack Snyder. Have the characters act like they're supposed to. But if you just want to see Batman and Superman fight, you get that and while that scene is thrilling, the plot just makes no sense and the overall movie just boring and disappointing.

Marvel Daredevil (Season 1)

     Well its time for another review. Now I've been reviewing mostly movies but this time I am reviewing a television show. This time I am reviewing the Netflix original series Daredevil season one. For those of you who have seen the series would know that Netflix is posting season two this Friday. So what could be a better way to get ready for season than a review of season one. The reason I am writing about Daredevil is because I wanted to re-watched the first season before they posted season two and I just finished. So I figured this will be a good way to get other people ready for season two. Now let's get started with the review.

     Before I watched Daredevil the first time I didn't know too much about the character but I still wanted to watch the show. And the first thing that attracted me to the show since the very first minute was right away they established the character was blind. I always enjoy blind characters because it shows they have to overcome what a lot of people have to overcome; losing one sense. So right away the character has to face and overcome a normal problem that many people have to go through in real life. I also enjoy watching how well the actor portrays a blind character. And that actor that plays Daredevil Charlie Cox does a good job at pretending that he cannot see. I read online that he does work with someone to help playing blind and make sure his eyes do not do anything that a non blind person(s) eyes would do. I also like the blind aspect because none of the other characters would suspect him being Daredevil. Because no one gives a second thought about someone that cannot see.

     I also really enjoyed the acting. I think the actors are better in this series than in the Daredevil movie. I just feel the actors in the series are more believable and have their roles down better. But than the writing in the series is also better than the movie. The story is more interesting and captivating to watch. That is the key to having a good show is making sure the writing id strong and that in return will make the acting strong. And the filmmakers of Daredevil did a good job making sure they had a good story thus making the actors able to perform to the best of their ability. One thing to note is that the story is rather dark, but it makes sense because Daredevil is one of the darker heroes. Another thing to point out is that if you think about in the story they created the hero and villain are trying to do the same thing for the city in which they both live. However, they are just on opposite sides of how to make the city a better place thus putting them against one another. Now that's a good story!

     Another thing that I enjoyed about the series is that he is never directly called Daredevil nor is he in the Daredevil costumes until the very last episode. Because you know he is Daredevil, you don't need a different character saying the name every episode. And not seeing in the costume til the end make the build up seeing the costume that much sweeter. Like the hero they do the same with the villain as they never address him as Kingpin, they only ever call him Wilson Fisk. Again you he is Kingpin, you don't need it address every episode. Bottom line Daredevil is just a fun series to watch.

Deadpool

Spoiler Alert!!!!!

     Well now is the time for another review. I know I haven't posted anything new for a few weeks, I just have been busy. But now I found the time to write. This film I was unsure if it was going to be any good and it really surprised me that it was and it was entertaining. I was expecting the lead actor to just really not being good and just really sucked at the role. But he was in fact surprising good in the film. If they make more films based in this character, I will most likely go and see them. So let's get started with the review of Deadpool.

     Let's start with the material. Now I don't know that much about Deadpool but from what I already knew and from what I looked up online it does seem to be more authentic to the comics then that awful Wolverine: Origins movie. One way from what I found out is that Deadpool does seem to break the forth wall which is what he does throughout the entire film. That had to be my favorite thing about the film because forth wall breaks make the movie or show that you are watching funnier. Just to be clear for those of you who don't know what a forth wall break is? A forth wall break is when a character looks and speaks directing to the audience. Another way the movie seems to be closer to the comics is the character's backstory and how he becomes Deadpool seems to be right on the market. Which is probably the reason the film has been so successful because it follows the source material with accuracy. 

     Now speaking on the acting, Ryan Reynolds really surprised me and was good. Especially because we saw in the Wolverine film where he came across as egotistical and just plain stupid. And we all knew about the Green Lantern fiasco I guess is what you can call it. But unlike those films you actually felt bad for the character and really wanted him to win and Ryan Reynolds did a terrific job at portraying the emotions he was supposed to be feeling. Now for all you Firefly fans out there then you should know that they had Inara, herself Morena Baccarin to play Deadpool's love interest. And she was as lovable and badass as she was in Firefly. Her character could really hold her own against Deadpool and also no matter what he looked like she loved him unconditionally. Which was a really good message for the film. All the actors really played their characters well and played off of each other well. 

     I think the reason the film is so successful and the acting so great is because the movie is well written. Because if the writing is weak then even the best special effects, the best acting etc is not going to make the entire final product any good. This is not the case with Deadpool. The writing is strong and it makes everything else that much better. The film was better then I expected it to be. If you guys do go see it make sure to stay til the end of the credits because there is a fun little scene that will have you laughing before you leave the theater.

The Philadelphia Story

     This review I am going to take back in time to 1040 to one of Cary Grant's most well-known films and out of the films I've seen with him, I think it is also one of his best. An interesting note is that Cary Grant's real name was Archibald Leech. Just a bit of trivia for you, so you can say you learned something new. Now if you like comedy, romance or just older movies in general than you will enjoy this film. With that said let's started on this review of The Philadelphia Story.

     You see one of the gifts I got for Christmas is a collection of 20 comedy films so I have plenty of movies to watch. And I like Cary Grant, I think he was a good actor so of course this was going to be one of the first movies I was going to watch. The movies also start Katherine Hepburn and James Stewart. So this movie is not short on talent. All actors performed their parts well, they showed great comical timing but also great emotional chops. And when they were supposed to be falling in love, you could believe they were really falling in love with each other. That's how great all the actors were because they were amusing and believable. 

     But in case the actors are not enough for you to watch The Philadelphia Story perhaps the writing will be. For starters the movie is a romantic comedy and if your looking for a new romantic comedy to watch then you should check out The Philadelphia Story. You will not be disappointed and if you are then your just taking the movie too seriously. If your not a fan of romance but you enjoy comedy then watch for the comedy and not for the romance. Because there are so many funny lines, looks the actors do to make their character funny and like I said above the comical timing the actors have makes the film all the more funnier. So if your having a bad day and need to have a laugh The Philadelphia Story will do just that. And finally if you don't like comedy but you like romance then watch it for the romance. Because even though it has comedy the movie also has lots of romance and it really gets down to the heart and the love the two main characters feel in their own heart. And as the movies progresses it becomes clear that the two main characters have always been in loved with each other. And the amount of chemistry Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn have with each other is out of this world. It makes the story that much better. If none of what I mention above interest you then watch it to discover that since the filmmakers did not have the technology to do the special effects they have now, that they had to mostly focus on the writing and make sure they had a very solid story, it keeps the audience engaged, makes them laugh and say "Awww" at the same time. Now that is a good story.

     In conclusion The Philadelphia Story may be an older movie but the story still holds up today. It will make you laugh, make you go "Awww" and make you want to have someone you absolutely love in your life. It is a great movie to watch on a cold rainy day.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Spoiler Alert!!!!!

     Welcome to the last review of the year and how fitting that its the biggest film of the year. Mostly because it has been thirty plus years since the franchise began. Now I don't want to go into too much detail for those of you who haven't seen it. But just know that this film is as good and epic as people are saying. Let's get to the review of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, episode seven.

     I was hesitate going into the film because I didn't want it to be as bad or worst than the prequels. Not that they could be worst, the prequels was pretty bad. Regardless I was going to see it just because it was Star Wars. And like Will Wheaton said on The Big Bang Theory episode the night before, you can't take Star Wars too seriously. He was right weather the movie was great or a total piece of crap, its not going to change our lives. I just had to make a reference to that episode, it was crazy.

     But after I saw it, I liked it. quite enjoyed it. I thought it had a good story and humor as the original trilogy and it was a well made as the prequel trilogy. I thought the original cast still had it and meshed well with the new cast. I also thought the fact that the new trio sort of mirrored the original trio. I thought it was great of the filmmakers to put all kinds of call backs to the originals, some nostalgia for the hardcore fans.

     Obviously the special effects were better in this one than the originals or even the prequels. But I am glad the film and J.J. Abrams relied more on writing and really making sure he had a solid story and less on special effects. Because that's where the falter. They are well made and the special effects are great but the writing is weak. And if the story is weak than even the best special effects is not going to save the movie. But Abrams did a really good job on the story. 

     Now I just have to say Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher still does a good job. Even though and spoiler alert Mark Hamill is not in it much. I won't give away how much he is involved but let's just say it make sense for his character and you won't be disappointed. And I can't wait to see what part he plays in episode 8. I just had to mention the original cast because if it wasn't for them starting the franchise than we wouldn't get to see how the story began before A New Hope and how it continues after Return of the Jedi. The new cast was just as good and I really like the fact the main character is female. Because it is something we never seen in a Star Wars film. And it shows how far cinema has come where not every lead character is male.

     Bottom line is if you do not take Star Wars too seriously than you will enjoy the beginning of this new saga. The only downside is we now have to wait til 2017 to watch the next one. And then til 2019 to see the last one, but I think it will be worth the wait.
